trying not to notice the date, but it's weighing on me more than usual this year. hopefully I'll be busy enough tomorrow that I won't have to think about it much.
stress stress stress
first English quiz was today. we were warned that most students fail the first quiz, but even with that warning, it was more difficult than I had expected. I got an 11 out of 10 on it (hooray for teachers who add a bonus question!), but the ONLY reasons why I managed to do that well were because:
1.) yesterday my design class got out extremely early and I was too sick to eat lunch, so I spent that entire time studying. 3 hours with nothing to do but study = horridly dull. wanted to doodle instead, but I decided to spend my time more wisely (even though I reeeally didn't want to LOL).
2.) I had like 15 minutes to kill before class this morning, so I studied then too, meaning everything was fresh in my mind. THANK GOD I HAD THAT 15 MINUTES or I never would have managed to remember some of that shit.
fortunately I won't have to rely on those factors from now on, because I know how her quizzes work now and what kind of questions she'll be likely to ask... so excessive studying won't be so critical. always helps to know what to expect, haha.
after English, I had to go to the WSU bookstore to get supplies for my art classes. (since I've never been to another school, idk if it's typical for campus bookstores to have a shitload of school supplies, but WSU has a TON of supplies.) I hadn't ever been to the bookstore at my school, which seems kind of ridiculous, but I always ordered my books online and my painting professor kind of mocked the art supply section last semester, so I felt it was useless to go. however, my art professors for this semester were pretty adamant about getting stuff from the bookstore, so I decided to drop by and see what the art section was like. SURPRISINGLY AMAZING. idk what my painting professor's problem was with it. (I guess the painting area was a bit limited, but really, the rest of it was good so no need to mock the whole art section.) there were some things I wasn't able to get there (no kneaded erasers? odd), and they were sold out of soft charcoal, so that was sort of a bummer, but they had like, every kind of sketchbook in the universe (newsprint, bristol, regular sketchbooks, etc.) and in a variety of sizes, too. NICE. also had crap I needed but didn't expect them to have, like x-acto knives and artist tape and markers in every single shade of gray you could possibly imagine. and besides the soft charcoal being sold out, the charcoal selection was better than I had expected. so I'm kind of in love with the bookstore atm. made shopping for school supplies less of a hassle. prices still kinda hurt, though. so far, I've spent about $250-300 on textbooks (which could be SO MUCH WORSE, I know, but considering the fact that almost all of my classes are art classes... so many textbooks for this semester was kind of surprising for me) and around $200 on art supplies... which sucks because I've only gotten about half of the art stuff I need LOL /sobbbb. sort of procrastinating on some of that crap on the list for Design. we don't need everything on the list just yet, so I'm like "...uhh I'll wait so I don't have to pay for everything at once..." LOL :(
